UF had the privilege to interview London's Very Own Michaela. Born Michaela-Moses Araba Boakye-Collinson in London, she has fused together poetry and music to bring a sound the world is waiting to hear. Here's a peek into the life of Michaela, and what the world will soon know as MUZITRY!

What's your purpose in life?
My purpose in life is to encourage and inspire people through the many art forms God has given me giftings in, I allow God to use me to sow seeds of motivation and joy!! Like Peace and Parsley...or perhaps Love and Lentils.

Style of Music?
Music? It's POETRY!!! Well...call is MUZITRY ...I range from raw poetry to ELECTRO-POP to SOUL to INDIE to FUNK!

What issues do you address in your music?
Any issue that relates to my personal testimony - no problem is unique to man after all; Relationships, Anger-Management, Anorexia, Insecurities, Problems at school/university, the Negative Influence and Effects Friends can have on you, Self-esteem, my life with CHRIST!!!

How has your music inspired people around you?
"I'd have to ask them, but I feel like that would come across a little big-headed. We as people go through embarrassing, awkward, painful, happy times - my muzitry brings all of this stuff to light and imparts a fruit of righteousness, that is in PICKING YOURSELF UP and carrying on. Many have written to me to tell me how the words that God has given me have helped them to take the burden off their shoulders, to get over that awful experience, and to laugh in the face of tribulation knowing that through Christ you've already conquered! Gordon Bennett!! That's fantastic ain't it!?!"

What's one memorable moment in your career?
Opening for the Festival Of Youth Arts in the middle of Trafalgar Square...and watching 6,000 fall silent after the first 5 words...immense.

How do you suppose the Older and Younger generations bridge the gap?
Understanding....washing out culture and soaking in JESUS.

What's your favorite shoe style?
Hahhaaa!!! Why do you ask?! LOL....hmmm...rust £2.99 sandals...I don’t usually wear anything on my feet so...

BUT...I do have a fabulous pair of RUBY heels...They are so nice that I was inspired to write a comedy piece of poetry about them (it'll be on my album, recorded live at HACKNEY EMPIRE).

What's your favorite TV show?
Dunno mate...maybe Eastenders? Heroes? Desperate Housewives (Yeah, I said it!! It's a good show!!!).

How has God used you in your local church?
He continues to; I minister there regularly, and on the 5th Sunday of every month we cancel church and go to hostels around London....do things like give massages, nail manicures, hair treatments and just comforting conversation to the residents there...for me, that is one of the main things church is about. I am honored to be used there for God's glory.

What's your passion in life?
Poetry and Drama: I've been writing for just over 3 years, and Drama is a new gift that God LOUDLY instructed me to get into.

What's new on your agenda for the remaining year?
My ALBUM LAUNCH...FIXING BARBIE will be out in UK shops, Amazon, and iTunes on the 29th August, and I'm launching it in Theatre Square London with a big banger of a production. It's going to be amazing

Also...by now, I would have graduated had I not dropped out of university twice (yeah that's right..TWICE)! You know sometimes you can hear God saying something...? But you can't quite figure out what it is? And you're too sidetracked to pray consistently about it? I did that for two years straight, until I finally understood that God was wanting me to take some serious STEPS OF FAITH in order to step into the destiny that He had set for me. I'm academically very smart, so when He told me to drop out of university (He told me the first time, but I was silly...and I went back (LOL) to go and audition for the top 3 drama schools in the UK (and I never studied acting), I was a lil confused. Nevertheless, the voice was so loud that I had to listen and face the ridicule and disappointment that followed. I got in Guildhall School Of Music and Drama, training ground to Johnny Depp, Eughan McGregor, Daniel Craig and many more. This year they had over 2,500 auditions, and only accepted 23 people. Praise God, I start in September!

How can people hear your music?
www.myspace.com/michaelathepoet | Click Here to Hear Music

They can hear my music there!! I just got it up so I don't have many friends :-(.

I usually operate from facebook, my page is called 'Michaela : The Birth Of A Poet'. There I frequently interact with the members. So far I have over 2,400 people signed, and I praise God for every one of 'em!!!

What is one thing that is misconceived about you?
Because I have an Afro...I must be reeeeally afro-centric and earthy and my arms must be coated in so many wooden bangles I cannot lift them up.

Nah mate...nice every now and again, but not my style :o)
