KEEPING THE GATE CLEAN THRU LIVE MUSIC A universal band that is comprised of 7 members is giving Gospel Hip Hop Music a new twist in North Carolina. This group doesn’t rely on tracks to perform only; they sing consecutively with their hard-hitting yet melodic band support! Quentin Hill/Parable, Robert Brewer/Sound Doctrin, Chanissa Speaks/Chi Chi are the vocal artist while Herman Sanders (M.D/ Drummer), Micah Nelson (Keyboard), Calvin Lewis (Lead Guitar), and Tracy Brown (Bass Guitar) are the hands that make up the band GATEKEEPERZ. The GateKeeperz or GK foundation was created through a mutual friend at OnQ Productionz Studio with the meeting of Parable, Sound Doctrin and Calvin in 2003. Embryonic as a band their first show in Jonesville NC sparked a trail of invitations requesting their “style”. Having “LIVE” music has allowed them to cross all boundaries to captivate the masses, and their “sound” has plunged them into Youth Ministries that provide various methods that reach the youth. The force that has created this longevity is the common ground they share with similar backgrounds in struggles but having a present in Christ. Their message isn’t to neither dilute nor disregard their past but to shine light in dark places. They speak openly about their struggles of the past with the joy of Christ delivering them from their bonds. “Once you put Christ in anything…it changes” states Herman. Seeing the more personable side of the group, Sound Doctrin states, “I got on stage and I forgot my verse and spit the SAME VERSE TWICE!!! You know you get to the point where you like something aint clicking”. That’s what distinguished their growth, being able to make mistakes, learn and laugh at them simultaneously. Parable states, “Without Integrity you can’t represent Christ”. This profound statement was given when talking about the conviction of the crowd wanting more music played and the band obeying the time allotted for their set. Having various leaders in their own right throughout this group many look to Calvin as he teaches through is Walk.
