YOUNG: What does
the name “FUTURE” mean?
FUTURE: When the name Future initially dropped in my spirit,
GOD told me that this name was given to me, because the gift HE
placed inside of me, was the direction Hip Hop was headed. So
I stand and serve as somewhat of a prequel of where this movement
called rap is going. Brothers and sisters (in Christ) using their
gifts (whether rap or other gifting) to help edify, encourage
and glorify GOD rather than glorifying and glamorizing the many
problems that plague our society and this HIP HOP GENERATION.
YOUNG: How long have you been an artist for Christ?
FUTURE: I've been rapping since I was about 11 or 12, but rocking
for the LORD since 17 or 18. So about 4 years.
YOUNG: In your eyes, how has being a rapper and minister work
for your advantage?
FUTURE: I feel that through me, and brothers and sisters like
me, GOD is able to put a more practical face on Christianity.
The WORD that GOD has placed in my spirit to give to my brother
and sisters goes over so well and is received so readily because
I look, walk, talk, and dress like them. It makes a walk with
GOD seem much more attainable if they can see a guy from ANYHOOD,
USA walking it out and being successful at the same time. Then
on top of that the lyrics and production being comparable to that
of any secular artist that is out. It shows that this walk with
GOD doesn't have to be boring and bland, but yo!, we got heat
over here too! My main goal as a man of GOD is to reach people
that are lost; having this double angle to hit with definitely
gives me an advantage.
YOUNG: UF heard
you have done some traveling; tell us some of the places you
have been.
FUTURE: With the Life or Death Tour with L.G.Wise, myself,
Soufland (and crunk group from Arkansas), Young Wiz, Double A
running simultaneously with Ron Luce's Acquire The Fire: Teen
Mania Tour I’ve been all over the U.S as well as a trip
to Belize with L.G Wise on Phil Chalmers: Shock and Awe Tour and
to Mexico with Michael Graham and Epidemic ministries from Brooklyn
N.Y.
YOUNG: Do you have an album that people can buy, and where
can they pick it up?
FUTURE: YES I DO! The name of my album is called Future: The
Takeover released on Wise Up Records through Central South Distribution
and it should be in your Christian bookstores. (And if they don't
have it, pickett that store with signs until they get it in!)

that people may not know about you,
FUTURE: I'm very happily married to a beautiful young lady,
and I’m the best basketball player not in the NBA! Anytime,
anywhere I’m up for embarrassing you on the court or with
